Alistair Mitchell started life in marketing as a Brand Manager at United Biscuits and KP. After a stint at Clarke Hooper, he went on to found The Marketing Store in January 1986 with Graham Kemp, building it into one of the biggest sales promotion agencies in Europe. When he sold it 12 years later it was billing over £30 million, employed 200 staff and boasted such heavyweight clients as McDonald's, Pepsi and Asda. In the interim years he owned a sales promotion company in the States and made a foray into the world of music, before acquiring The Big Kick in 2009. Under his guidance, The Big Kick has continued to create innovative and ground-breaking marketing communications campaigns and boosted the client portfolio to include SCA Hygiene, ABInBev and Camelot to name but a few.
Barbara Holgate Managing Partner
Barbara’s career spans over 25 years and her experience covers a full range of clients and disciplines, including FMCG, Retail, Financial and Leisure. Early experience was gained at TA&A before joining Triangle, rising to Board Director, and launching Triangle’s sister agency Storm, a specialist retail agency working with Safeway and Lloyds TSB. Barbara then worked with Ally Mitchell at The Marketing Store on some truly ground breaking campaigns for Walkers in the UK and Europe, before joining The Big Kick in 2003 as Managing Director. In 2009 she renewed her partnership with Ally, when they acquired The Big Kick along with fellow director, Shelley Davies. Barbara remains actively involved with clients and has worked closely with many including PepsiCo, Unilever, ABInBev, Camelot, Heinz and Universal Pictures. Her expertise lies in getting to the heart of the client challenges and ensuring a simple and single-minded approach to their solutions. She regularly chairs MAA and ISP award panels.
